Martinez-Fiterre, Paola

Paola Martínez-Fiterre (b. 1992, Havana) Martínez-Fiterre lives and works in New York. She studied at ISA in Havana and graduated from the International Center of Photography in New York having won the Director's Scholarship and the New Media Grant in 2019. Her practice is focused on the representation of the feminine subject intertwined with the experience of migration. She utilizes photography as a tool of perception to relate and inhabit different spaces: the domestic, the social, and the biological, with the goal of demonstrating, and at times subverting, its ideological gendered significance. She has been included in various exhibitions, residencies and other projects, and received national and international visibility. Most recently, her work has been added to the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. (CINTAS Foundation - Sondra Gilman González-Falla Fellowship in Photography, 2023)
